Problem: You cannot burn creations, a backup catalog, or an image archive to your CD or DVD disc.
Possible cure: Here are a few troubleshooting tips:
U* Be sure that you have the latest drivers available for your CD or DVD drive. And make sure the driver is compatible with your flavor of operating system. Although Album has been engineered to work with most CD and DVD drives, there may be some drives that it flat cannot work with.
U* If you experience repeated problems burning your catalog or files to CDs or DVDs using Album’s backup and archive commands, you may have to use a more manual method. If you have enough space, try backing up or archiving your catalog or files to your hard drive. Then use the software bundled with your drive, or an external burning program, to burn the files to the CD or DVD.

U* With some CD-RW drives and CD-RW discs, Album may be unable to overwrite a disc that has information already on it. If it can’t overwrite the disc, try using a blank CD-RW or CD-R disc. |

You Can’t Read Your PDF CreationComments OffProblem: You, or your recipients, cannot open your creation in Adobe Acrobat. Possible cure: First, check the version of Acrobat you (or your recipients) are using. Acrobat 4.0 and earlier versions are not compatible with certain types of Album creations. Make sure and use the latest version of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. You can download Acrobat Reader for free from Www. adobe. com. Make sure that you check the box to include the options with your Reader software, which includes the ability to view Album slideshow and eCards. Note that the file download size is 13.4MB, so make sure your Internet connection can handle that size. If your recipient is a Macintosh OS X user, tell him or her not to double-click the PDF creation file itself. Instead, have the recipient launch Acrobat Reader and choose File➪Open and choose the file from the Open dialog box. |

To view your PDF creations with the best quality, especially with template styles such as “Casual” that have photos positioned at an angle, you should set your Acrobat preferences to enable “smoothing.” Here’s how: |
|
1. Choose Edit➪Preferences➪General in Acrobat and Edit➪Preferences in Acrobat Reader. The Preferences dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 21-6. 2. Select Display from the left side of the Preferences dialog box. 3. Check the boxes for “Smooth Line Art” and “Smooth Images,” shown in Figure 21-6. Then click OK. Checking these boxes helps to prevent any jagged or raggedy-looking edges on your artwork. |

You Can’t Edit Your PhotoComments OffProblem: You can’t edit your image when you bring it into the Fix Photo dialog box. Possible cure: Check the file size of your image. Album Version 1.0 can work with images with a resolution of up to 12 megapixels. If the resolution is any higher, Album won’t touch it. If you have an external image editor, such as Photoshop Elements or Photoshop, you can downsize the image there. To fix the size limitation, make sure and download the free Version 1.01 patch from Www. adobe. com. See the earlier section, “Update Now!”
